As part of the SPS-related technology being developed as a manufacturing method for new SiC/SiC composites and C/SiC composites, the production base for NITE intermediate materials (prepreg sheets) for SPS methods has been completed, and NITE C/SiC prepreg sheets for SPS processing reinforced with Torayca carbon fibers; T300B have been named as C/SiC PPS for SPS (CPSPT3)). In addition, the manufacturing of the final product using this product by the SPS method will also be initiated under the agreement on specifications and supply conditions with customers.
In addition, with the start of production of this product, the name of the existing products will be changed as follows, and production under contract will be carried out.

A large production line of NITE products in Korea was completed and started production
A large-scale production line, based on a technology transfer agreement between NITE Corporation and DACC CARBON Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Jeonju, South Korea), a major manufacturer of carbon-based composite materials in Korea, was completed in September 2025, and after trial operation, production of green sheets and prepreg sheets, which are intermediate materials for SiC based composite materials by the NITE method, began on October 20. In addition, the first products from the production line, C/SiC and SiC/SiC composite plates were successfully fabricated.
Start receiving orders for SiC/SiC and C/SiC intermediate materials (prepreg sheets).
Under the recent improvements in facilities and manufacturing technology, a stable supply of intermediate materials (Prepreg-sheets and Green-sheets) has been established.
Since August 2024, NITE Corporation and DACC Carbon (mainly in Korea) have started accepting orders for products that are reinforced with fibers in one direction (UD-PPS) and products that are reinforced with plain weave or satin weave (WF-PPS).
For SiC fibers, we use Hi-Nicalon Type S made of NGS Advanced Fiber Co., Ltd.
With C fiber coating by CVD method and by polymer pyrolysis. For Tyranno SA4 fibers made of Ube, we will respond to the supply of products under the fiber supply from the ordering side.
For C fibers, we will use Toray’s T300 fiber as the basis, but we will also supply using other fibers under the fiber supply from the orderer. At present, we do not disclose information on the process from intermediate materials to the processing of the final product, but we will receive orders for process processing as well.
Agreed to develop C/SiC composite materials using a new manufacturing method (NITE-II method: tentative name, NITE-DACC joint patent application is to be filed)

Agreed to build a large-scale production line in Korea and manufacture and sell NITE products
We have reached a technology transfer agreement with DACC CARBON Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Jeonju City, South Korea), a major manufacturer of carbon-based composite materials in Korea, and at the same time signed a distributor agreement. Under this contract, we have already completed technology transfer and engineer training in Japan by August 2024, and have succeeded in manufacturing the first products (C/SiC composites and SiC/SiC composites) by Korean engineers. Currently, we have started work on the construction of an integrated manufacturing facility in South Korea, and we aim to start manufacturing and selling intermediate materials (green sheets and prepreg sheets) in the first half of 2025.
July 29, 2020 NITE Corporation (Headquarters: Muroran, Japan)joins a large scale production of C/SiC and SiC/SiC Prepregs at Axiom Materials (Headquarters: California, USA) under the technical cooperation agreement
NITE Cooperation (Headquarters: Muroran, Japan) provides the Know-How and technical guidance of NITE to AXIOM in response to AXIOM’s acquisition of the permission to use the NITE Law Patent (owned by JST), whose CEO Akira Kohyama is the inventor. On June 11, 2020, the technical cooperation agreement to develop green sheets (Green-sheet) and prepreg sheets (Prepreg-sheets), which are intermediate materials for C/SiC and SiC/SiC composite, was established.
Under this agreement, AXIOM will develop the production and development of green sheets and prepreg sheets, which are intermediate materials for C/SiC, SiC/SiC composites under the NITE method, based on NITE’s technical disclosures.
The large-scale production line has already been almost completed, and we plan to start the production line operation in the 4th quarter of 2020 when it is expected that some delivery delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic will be resolved.

Nite products SiC/SiC composite materials have been developed with the support of public funds from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and the NITE Act was developed and patented by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s CREST project “Development research on composite functional materials for low environmental impact energy” (1997-2002: Kyoto University Institute of Energy Science and Technology, Research Representative: Akira Kayama). Major support has continued with research funds for innovative nuclear system development-related budgets and new energy material development, such as geothermal development. The practical application of the NITE method was promoted through the activities of IEST Co., Ltd, a spin-off company in the Kyoto University era, and with the support of Gunze. NITE Co., Ltd. was established in 2017.
During this period, the Organization of Advanced Sustainability Initiative for Energy System/Material (OASIS)) was established at Muroran Institute of Technology in 2010, and large-scale research and development has been carried out in parallel based on public funding.
July 24, 2020 Axiom to expand its CMC product portfolio with Carbon/SiC and SiC/SiC composite
Axiom, a specialist in the development and supply of oxide/oxide CMC prepregs for aerospace and industrial applications, is to develop a line of carbon/SiC and SiC/SiC composite intermediates under license from JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency) and NITE (Nano-Infiltration and Transient Eutectic-phase) Corporation of Japan. This will allow Axiom to expand its offerings over a complete spectrum of CMC materials for aerospace and industrial structural applications with service temperatures to 1400°C.
Axiom Materials is expanding its CMC product portfolio with Carbon/SiC and SiC/SiC composite products for aerospace and industrial markets under a new technology license. JST, the key governmental agency for Science and Technology in Japan which was ranked fourth place in the World’s Most Innovative Research Institutions at Reuter’s “Top 25 Global Innovators 2017”, and NITE Corporation, providing the most advanced C/SiC and SiC/SiC Composites, and a spin-off company from the R & D activities of Kohyama Laboratory at Kyoto University, University of Tokyo, and Muroran Institute of Technology, are the licensors of the technology.
In addition to the Oxide/Oxide CMC prepregs for aerospace and industrial applications requiring service temperatures to 1100° C under stress, Axiom Materials will now be able to participate in a wider segment of the high temperature market. Introduction of C/SiC and SiC/SiC products under license from JST and NITE will allow Axiom to expand its offerings for aerospace and industrial structural applications with service temperatures to 1400° C. The expanded portfolio will also put Axiom Materials in a lead position to supply SiC/SiC materials for scientific and industrial nuclear plant applications where NITE technology has achieved a global recognition.
Static components of jet engines and automotive or aircraft disk brake applications are among the main areas that C/SiC composites are used for. Aerospace applications of SiC/SiC materials include aircraft jet engine power systems, rocket engine components requiring excellent resistance to high temperature, creep, high corrosion/erosion in a complex static and dynamic stress/strain environment, whereas industrial applications of SiC/SiC composites are found in nuclear energy, petro-chemical industry, chemical, geothermal and combustion plants, and transportation.
Axiom was acquired by Kordsa in early 2018, a former supplier and technical partner of the company in the field of textile reinforcement technologies.
