NITE Method Intermediate Materials

C/SiC composites and SiC/SiC composites based on the NITE method are manufactured by combining intermediate materials such as prepreg-sheet, green sheet, and pre-composite ribbon and using near-net shaping technology to form the final product. The uni-directional reinforcement is produced domestically by NITE. (Production and supply in the U.S. at AXIOM Materials Inc. is scheduled to begin in October 2024.) As for intermediate materials that are reinforced with textiles, we will import and sell products from AXIOM Materials Inc. in the U.S., except for some products that use carbon fiber

prepreg sheet

Standard specifications
*Standard dimensions:
 (1) 160 mm x 200 mm
 (2) 350 mm x 500 mm
(1) has a maximum length of 2000 mm, and (2) has a length of negotiable depending on the type of supply.
*C fiber:
Toray T300B (UD prepreg sheet with unidirectional fiber reinforcement, 2D prepreg sheet with plain weave and vermilion weave reinforcement)
*SiC fibers:
Hi Nicalon Type S (UD prepreg sheet reinforced with uni-directional fibers, 2D prepreg sheets reinforced with plain weave and vermilion weave fabrics) C coating is performed on SiC fibers by the CVD method.
*Matrix: NITE-SiC

This product is made by molding NITE method slurry into a sheet shape. 

Standard specifications
*supporting material: 200mm wide PET film is used as the substrate.
*Sheet Thickness: 0.3mm
  (variable from 0.1mm to 0.7mm)
*Standard dimensions: 160mm x 50m 
  (delivered wrapped around a bobbin)

NITE C/SiC Composites

The C/SiC composites are manufactured based on the international patent NITE method (nano-powder impregnation and transition eutectic sintering).

*C fiber: Toray T300B (This is basically a 2D product made by laminating UD prepreg sheets.) We can also supply products reinforced with carbon fiber fabrics upon request)

SiC/SiC Composites by NITE Method

NITE-SiC/SiC composite products are fabricated by international patents based on nano-technology, which is known as NITE method. NITE method stands for Nano Infiltration and Transient Eutectic Phase method, innovative modification of liquid phase sintering method.

NITE-SiC/SiC tubes reach less than 5 % porosity with excellent hermeticity. Outstanding radiation damage tolerance, high temperature stability including corrosion resistance under super high temperature steam environment and super environmental stabilities have been confirmed also by the third party research establishments over the world.
